New Clothes
You know the story of The Emperor’s New Clothes?
There’s a proud emperor, convinced he’s dressed in the most luxurious, elegant robes. He parades through the streets, expecting admiration. And sure enough, everyone gasps in awe, praising his magnificent attire.
Except for one little boy.
He simply points and says, “But the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes.”
The crowd is stunned. Some hush him. Others insist the emperor’s robes are exquisite. But the boy is unwavering—he sees the truth.
Apart from the safeguarding concerns in this tale (let’s not even go there), it got me thinking:
In life, in work, in the spaces we move through—who are you in this story?
Are you the bystander, watching something unfold but not speaking up? Do you stay silent because it’s easier because rocking the boat feels risky?
Are you the emperor, believing you are something you are not—or maybe terrified that you will be exposed, that imposter syndrome will catch up with you?
Or are you the little boy, unable to ignore what’s right in front of you, calling it as you see it, even when it makes others uncomfortable?
And here’s the real questions:
Which of these roles aligns with your values and beliefs and the person you want to be in the world?
When we continue to play a part that doesn’t align with who we truly are—whether out of habit, fear, or expectation—what does it cost us?
What happens when we step into authenticity?
If we drop the roles that don’t serve us, what do we gain?
Real connection—conversations without pretense, without shame, without the weight of expectation.
Clarity—knowing what we stand for, without second-guessing ourselves.
Freedom—to move away from roles that drain us, to show up as who we really are.
But change isn’t always easy. What if you don’t want to play your current role anymore? What if you want to be in a different story altogether—somewhere far away, somewhere that feels more you?
How do you get there?
This is where Coaching comes in!
Life coaching with me isn’t about forcing change—it’s about helping you see what’s possible.
If you feel stuck in a role that no longer fits, coaching can help you:
Reignite—Reconnect with what truly matters to you.
Reframe—Shift perspective and see new possibilities.
Redefine—Clarify your values and where you want to be.
Restore—Find balance and alignment in your life.
So, I’ll leave you with this:
Are you where you want to be in your own story?
And if not—what would you like to have happen?
It is down to you.
Thank you for sharing your time with me—I hope these have been meaningful minutes for you.
